WCAR’s Membership Meeting this month is all about finding efficiency and conserving resources in our local housing market. We will be having our speakers (info below!), But there is more!
Mini Trade Show!
There will be TWELVE (12) organizations in a mini “trade show” talking about green housing construction, energy conservation, solar installations and more!
The “Trade Show” will be BEFORE & AFTER the speakers’ panel presentation!
(Food Truck Will Be Present!)

Built Green Jane Wybenga is the Built Green Specialist. She acts as the primary point of contact for members and leads project enrollment and certification review, outreach, education, and events. She supports the progression of the Built Green program by performing research on the newest green building initiatives and engaging with strategic partners and stakeholders. Jane will discuss how the Built Green program from the Master Builders creates healthier, comfortable living while saving money, conserving natural resources and reducing carbon footprints, actions that create a healthier habitat. |

Puget Sound Energy Hunter Hassig has spent the last decade working in the energy efficiency and clean energy sectors. A graduate of WWU’s College of the Environment, Hunter currently serves Whatcom County as Puget Sound Energy’s Outreach Manager designing outreach strategies to involve PSE customers in the clean energy transition.Hunter will discuss PSE’s plan to meet ambitious clean energy goals along with new programs available to our community to cut costs and reduce their environmental impact. |

TC Legend Homes Ted Clifton has a background of 30+ years in the residential construction industry. He is passionate about the process of drafting a family’s dream home and turning it into a reality. Building Net-Zero Carbon Neutral Energy homes adds another level of purpose in his work and is motivated in being a leader of sustainability. Ted will discuss what makes a Net Zero Energy home different and how we achieve sustainable housing. |

Habitat For Humanity Christopher vanStaalduinen has 28 years construction experience and 22 years as a general contractor. Construction experience includes new construction of single-family homes, multifamily homes, commercial buildings, Chris has been the Construction Director for Habitat for Humanity since May of 2019. Brian Mattioli has over 20 years of experience in real estate from construction to property management to home inspections. Owner of Habitat Home Inspections and Habitat Home Improvement, Brian now works with Habitat for Humanity as a site superintendent.Brian and Chris will discuss how energy efficient sustainable construction impacts the lives of their homes buyers. |
